ブルースの「ウォー」
ブルース・スプリングスティーン＆E.ストリート・バンドによる大作ライヴ・アルバム『Live/１９７５−８５』から、エドウィン・スターの「ウォー」の前説（まえせつ）にあたるMC部分を御紹介しておきましょう。
When we grew up in the 60's, we grew up with a war on TV every night.
A war your friends were involved in.
And uh...I want to do this song for all the young out there.
If you're in your teens...I remember a lot of my friends when we were 17 or 18...we didn't have much of a chance to think about how we felt about a lot of things.
And uh...next time, they're gonna be looking at you and you're gonna need a lot of information to know what you're gonna want to do.
Because in 1985, blinf faith in your leaders or anything is gonna get you killed.
What I'm talking about is..."WAR !"
まぁ、６０年代に俺達は成長してきたんだけど、戦争の話が毎晩TVで流れていたんだ。
その戦争っていうのは自分の友人なんかが巻き込まれてた。
まぁ、会場にいる若いみんなにこの話を聞いて欲しいんだ。
俺も思い出すんだけど、１７か１８の頃、自分達がいろんなことに対してどういう風に思ってるかって考えてみる余裕があんまりなかったんだ。
この次、どういう事が起こるかはわからないけど、みんな君らの事を見てるわけだし、自分達が何をしたいかっていうことに対して、かなり情報を持っていなけりゃって思うんだ。
そして今...８５年なんだけれども、自分達の指導者を盲目的に信頼しちまってると、ホントに殺されるよ。
俺が何のことを言ってるかって...それは「戦争」のことなんだ。
